A runner's 3D path and foot contacts reconstructed by BEYOND
October 2026 · Issue 4

Not just how you move, but where you go

BEYOND now fuses its motion sensors (IMU) with the shoe cameras. The IMUs detect every foot contact and foot-off, and the body is tracked along its full 3D path through space instead of being pinned in place at the pelvis.

Also this month: a major model update that covers toe-in/out, dragging leg, crouch gait, wide and narrow steps, and dropping foot.

Before the trip, test user Emiel Harmsen kept recording his runs on holiday in Trentino, Italy, while the data was sent back to the Netherlands — remote motion capture in practice.
